crossovering | 2015

Thank you for writing for me! I apologize for the absolutely absurd length of this letter. I tried to keep each crossover suggestion brief, but as you can see, I failed in some instances. Use whatever helps you, discard the rest. Can't wait to read what you come up with — I'm sure I'll love it.

This year, sci-fi has taken no hostages, and you can see its dominance in this first request. Each of these occurs in a post-apocalyptic setting, with the exception of Marvel Cinematic Universe — which has seen its share of near-apocalypses. How do these post-apocalyptic worlds blend?

The 100 + Battlestar Galactica: In the Battlestar Galactica series finale, the Rebel Cylons decide to give the Centurions the Basestar and their freedom, hoping that the Centurions will live in peace. But what if the Centurions returned before the Ark sent the delinquents to the ground? Is A.L.I.E. connected to the Centurions? Is she part of the cycle? Alternatively, the characters of The 100 as Viper pilots and Battlestar crew would be great, too.

The 100 + Mad Max: Survivors on the Ark (and their descendants) believed the Earth was unsurvivable. We already know that they were wrong, so what if Max Rockatansky's post-apocalyptic Australia exists alongside Clarke Griffin's post-apocalyptic North America? What if the delinquents landed on Australia, rather than North America? Or what if the Grounder tribes in North America were like those in Australia?

The 100 + Marvel Cinematic Universe: S.H.I.E.L.D. never finds Steve, but somehow, the Mountain Men do. Imagine Steve waking in the room Clarke wakes in a few years later. What would the Mountain Men do if they could get ahold of Captain America's blood? How would the events of seasons 1-2 change if Steve was there to protect and guide the delinquents? Alternatively, place the Avengers on the Ark, waiting out the apocalypse; or choose a handful of the Hundred and give them superpowers.

Battlestar Galactica + Mad Max: What if the Centurions return and nuke Earth, so that Mad Max isn't just man-versus-man and man-versus-nature, but also man-versus-machine? What if humanity created Cylons again? Or imagine the survivors on the Twelve Colonies — however few they are — surviving in a Mad Max-like world after the Cylons pick up to pursue Earth and the Fleet. Crossover, fusion; Kara Thrace as Max Rockatansky, Kara Thrace versus Max Rockatansky — any of it would be brilliant.

Battlestar Galactica + Marvel Cinematic Universe: Again, I have to suggest that the Centurions return to Earth, and the Rebel Cylons' good gesture falls flat. The Avengers face-off against robots again. Or perhaps Ultron's consciousness finds a way to survive and he creates humanoid Cylons, then the whole Cycle begins to repeat again. Or the Viper pilots are superheroes! Or the Avengers time travel and encounter the Fleet! Just imagine Kara Thrace's snark up against Tony Stark's. So good.

Mad Max + Marvel Cinematic Universe: The way I see it, this could go 1 of 3 ways: First, the nuclear apocalypse comes, and the Avengers find themselves living in Max's hell. Second, the nuclear apocalypse comes, and everyone (including Max) gets superpowers. Third, the nuclear apocalypse came a while ago, and the Avengers are just stuck in this world, and Max is just stuck in this world, but maybe together (with Furiosa), they can bring a little good. Either way, I want it.

This request has it all: superheroes, (sometimes shady) government agencies, Chris Evans, mutants, Ming-Na Wen², and dinosaurs. Really, combining any two of these fandoms could produce something stupendous — mutants versus dinosaurs! s.h.i.e.l.d. & the x-men defend earth! telekinesis & precognition versus dinosaurs!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. + Jurassic Park: I started thinking about what the Marvel films would look like if dinosaurs were around, and let's be honest, it'd be incredible. Supervillains would have a wealth of opportunities with dinosaurs. So that's something to consider. Or you could imagine that the original Jurassic Park opened in 2015 and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could investigate it after. Or maybe Coulson and May investigated the original Jurassic Park, so they're reluctant to visit Jurassic World; but of course, Skye convinces them, and of course, they go the day all hell breaks loose. Or maybe it's HYDRA that recreates dinosaurs. Or S.H.I.E.L.D. does it with good (if stupid) intentions. Either way, plenty of room to include Alan, Ellie, and Ian, or Owen and Claire. (Or any of those people could be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. + Push: Really, these two worlds could exist alongside each other already. Maybe Coulson and May have an inkling of knowledge about Division, but it's just whispers and rumors. Then Coulson and Skye encounter Nick and Cassie while searching for powered people. Eventually, S.H.I.E.L.D. promises to destroy Division if Nick and Cassie agree to join Skye's team. Imagining Skye and Cassie working together is incredible. Also, how much would everyone's brain break at finding someone who looks so much like Steve Rogers? Alternatively, Nick and Cassie could both be Inhumans who side with Skye, or they could be Inhumans whose powers are triggered by the Terrigen-infused fish oil supplements. Swinging it the other way, Skye could be one of Division's experiments, a new type of superhuman.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. + X-Men (Movieverse): What if the coordinates in the Toolbox sent Coulson and his team to Xavier's? Imagine Fitz, Simmons, Skye, and Trip with the younger X-Men like Rogue, Kitty, and Bobby. Xavier could have helped heal Fitz's mind. The X-Men would have been awesome allies to have in season 2, especially once Inhumans became involved. Or some of the characters we know as X-Men could become S.H.I.E.L.D agents.

Jurassic Park + Push: I'm afraid I don't have much to go on here, to be honest. I just think Cassie, Nick, and dinosaurs would be great. How well would Nick's powers work against dinosaurs? Can Cassie's precognition work on dinosaurs? Maybe Division drops a bunch of its experiments off at Jurassic Park to see how they fare against dinosaurs.

Jurassic Park + X-Men (Movieverse): Let's be honest, whatever's happening here is probably Magneto's fault. He's probably kidnapped a bunch of humans and taken them to Isla Nublar to be eaten by dinosaurs. The X-Men have to intervene. Or maybe Magneto has acquired a mad scientist and wants to see what happens when you mix mutant DNA with dinosaur DNA. Really, the fun here is X-MEN VERSUS DINOSAURS.

Push + X-Men (Movieverse): Can Xavier sense Division's test subjects with Cerebro? If so, I imagine Xavier wouldn't allow that to continue, and Nick and Cassie are the first that he finds and protects. I'd also be great with Nick and Cassie as mutants or with all of the X-Men being a result of Division's experiments.

These fandoms offer some great tropes — spies, secret agents, conspiracies, revenge — and each of them has at least one incredible female character. Family and/or loyalty drive the major characters. Little details connect these canons: daughters of Russian spies, children who lose their fathers, secrets piled high. I'd love anything that plays on those little connections.

Alias + The Blacklist: Did Irina Derevko know Katarina Rostova? Sydney and Liz could bond over their KGB mothers. Or perhaps SD-6 is somehow connected to the web of terrible things that transpired when Liz was little. Or maybe Red turns himself in to the APO, under the condition that he will only work with Sydney Bristow, so she's dragged out of retirement. Maybe Sydney and Liz know each other, so she and Red go to her for help after the events of season 2.

Alias + Kingsman: The Secret Service: Kingsman recruits Sydney Bristow rather than SD-6, but she still ends up trying to take SD-6 down. Maybe the Kingsman networks extends further than Eggsy knows, so Merlin, Roxy, and Eggsy contact Sydney (known as Percival). Or maybe Eggsy is recruited by APO sometime after Sydney leaves, but he ends up working on a case that connects to some of her old cases.

Alias + Revenge: Emily and Nolan work for SD-6 and/or APO. SD-6 is somehow connected to the Graysons and what happened to her father. Or maybe Emily works for APO post-Revenge. Alternatively, Emily with spy parents would be pretty great, too. Or maybe something happens to Vaughn — he's framed for something — and Emily and Nolan help Sydney clear his name.

The Blacklist + Kingsman: The Secret Service: Red seems to have resources everywhere — what if he knows Merlin? Perhaps this is where he and Liz go post-season 2 finale. Liz and Red help rebuild Kingsman in return for anonymity and protection. Or maybe Red is a Kingsman and he recruits Liz.

The Blacklist + Revenge: What if the people responsible for destroying Liz's life were connected to the Graysons, helped the Graysons destroy David's life? Somehow, Emily realizes this connection, and recruits Liz to help her. Or maybe the Graysons are on the Blacklist, so Emily gets a little help in the end.

Kingsman: The Secret Service + Revenge: Imagine Emily as Lancelot (in Roxy's place) and Nolan as Merlin. Secret agents Emily and Nolan would be incredible. Or maybe Roxy is Emily's other half-sister, and when Emily learns about her, she and Nolan travel to England to find her. Then of course, they get recruited.

Sci-fi strikes back! Throughout these canons, the characters struggle to uncover truths — about themselves, about their worlds, about the universe, and about the peculiar ways time and space interact. Some grapple with difficult questions: If we perfected human cloning, what rights would those clones have? Should we see the alternative paths our lives might have taken, what our choices have cost us? And of course, some offer time travel.

Fringe + The Island: What if the Fringe Division was tasked to handle the fallout from Merrick Biotech's destruction? How would they handle such a delicate situation? Or maybe the FBI insures its investment in its agents by buying insurance policies, so now there's another set of Fringe agents running around. Or put any two of the characters in the situation Lincoln and Jordan were in.

Fringe + The Raven Cycle: When a series of strange phenomena occurs along what appears to be a path, the Fringe team investigates ley lines, and that investigation leads them to Henrietta. Walter Bishop would love the idea of finding a sleeping king, would love Cabeswater. Also: Henrietta, Virginia, Henrietta Bishop. I love the Observers, particularly September, and I think they'd be a great addition to this. Or maybe Blue Sargent grows up to become a Fringe agent, discovers alternate realities, and finds herself encountering a Richard Gansey III who never found Glendower.

Fringe + Stargate Universe: The Stargate franchise has its share of oddities, like time-travel-because-solar-flare and magic-mirrors-as-escapes-into-alternate-realities, so I imagine it wouldn't take much for the crew of the Destiny to wind up connected to the Fringe team. Maybe the Fringe team learns about the Stargate program. Or maybe the Fringe team belongs to Stargate Command, so you end up with several of them aboard the Destiny. Alternatively, Eli, for example, would probably love to work for something like Fringe Division.

The Island + The Raven Cycle: The Ganseys are probably rich enough to afford insurance policies like the ones Merrick Biotech offers, right? Imagine it's 2019, it's been 3-4 years since Blue lost Gansey, and then one day the story about Merrick Biotech's illegal cloning leaks. Then a few months later, Gansey's insurance policy arrives in Henrietta, Virginia, looking for Glendower. Or maybe Blue and Gansey are clones waiting to go to the Island, only there is no Island.

The Island + Stargate Universe: What if Stargate Command bought insurance policies for all of its teams? Then there's the Armstrongs, who can probably afford the policies all one their own. So imagine that Stargate Command doesn't hear from the crew of Destiny for years after the series finale. Then the news breaks about Merrick's illegal cloning, so Stargate Command offers the clones positions with them, only to hear from the crew of Destiny a few months later. I also really, really love the idea of Rush and Chloe as clones waiting to go to the Island.

The Raven Cycle + Stargate Universe: Imagine that Gansey's still searching for a king, but instead of searching on Earth, he's searching the Universe. Blue, Adam, Noah, and Ronan are along for the ride. They follow a lead to Icarus base, only to be stranded on the Destiny. I'd also love to see someone like Rush searching for a sleeping king.

This request might be my most mismatched, but it has some great features: found families, dinosaurs, thieves-turned-protectors, treasure maps, and sleeping kings. Just imagine Parker with dinosaurs or Riley Poole standing next to Glendower! How great would a team-up between the Leverage crew and the treasure hunters be? How much would Riley hate Ben and Abigail dragging him to an island full of dinosaurs?

Jurassic Park + Leverage: I'll be honest, I just need Parker and dinosaurs. She would be thrilled, especially with the velociraptors. So maybe the Leverage team is hired to recover stolen dinosaur eggs. I think this would be great set post-series, just the OT3 and a handful of velociraptor babies that imprint on Parker. Or maybe the Leverage team has the unfortunate luck of being at Jurassic World when everything goes wrong.

Jurassic Park + National Treasure: Ben Gates hears rumors that someone has found restorable dinosaur DNA and — being Ben Gates — can't just leave well enough alone. Riley protests because, hi, dinosaurs, but Abigail is weirdly on board? Maybe they encounter Alan and/or Ellie and/or Ian along the way? Or maybe there's something buried on Isla Nublar and Ben Gates is just ridiculous enough to go off-path to find it.

Jurassic Park + The Raven Cycle: What if the ley lines led Blue and the Raven boys to Jurassic Park? Or what if they walked into Cabeswater and got spit out in Jurassic Park? I think Ronan would probably enjoy velociraptors, to be honest. Gansey would have to make him swear he won't dream up a hoard of velociraptors to guard Cabeswater.

Leverage + National Treasure: I think Ben, Riley, and Abigail would probably get along great with the Leverage crew. Maybe they're about to steal something, but Parker gets there a few minutes before them. Maybe they team up to steal something together. Parker would probably love Ben a lot, to be honest. Riley and Hardison would be tech bros. Eliot would maybe teach Abigail how to fight or how to cook, depending on their moods, and it would be great. I'd also take the Leverage crew as treasure hunters or Ben, Abigail, and Riley as a Leverage team.

Leverage + The Raven Cycle: What if Blue and the Raven Boys realized they needed an artifact belonging to Glendower in order to find him? What if they discovered it was locked away in a vault somewhere? What if they hired the Leverage crew to help them steal it? Nate would probably be against it at first, maybe he'd realize that the artifact didn't really belong to the person who currently possessed it, or maybe he'd just really want to meet a sleeping king. I really love the idea of Blue and Parker hanging out. I'm not sure how the rest of the crew would mesh, except that maybe Sophie would get along great with some of the 300 Fox Way psychics.

National Treasure + The Raven Cycle: I'd like to see Ben as a benefactor of Gansey's research and/or a competitor in his search for Glendower. Ben and Gansey would probably spend hours reading Welsh texts. Riley would probably be adopted by the women at 300 Fox Way, mostly because it's so easy to poke fun at him. Abigail might get along with Ronan, but I also think Blue would love her.
