crossovering | 2014

THANK YOU! It's so awesome you're participating in this little exchange, not just because I get fic from you, but because you're part of making this possible. So yes, you got a mod, but I hope that doesn't make you wary. In general, I'm pretty easygoing; for this exchange, I'm happy with whatever. My desire to read ALL THE CROSSOSVERS EVER outweighs any thought I might have about a "perfect" fic. So please, have fun!

Behind the cut, you'll find a little more information about me (likes, dislikes, etc). You'll also find all the optional details for my requests. I tried to group fandoms with commonalties (with the exception of Pacific Rim, because really, who needs commonalties when you have characters as Jaeger pilots?), which I hope helps you, Writer. There are prompts for some of these potential crossovers, but not all of them. But in all seriousness, I want to read ALL of these crossovers, so whichever one you pick, I'll be thrilled.

(I've also included favorite characters/pairings. Feel free to include any of them, but I'll understand if you have other favorites you'd prefer to write about. Also, if you want to write crossover pairings, please do. I'll ready any!)

Should a little stalking become necessary, I go by [personal profile] galfridian everywhere: AO3, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. [personal profile] weasleytook can answer any questions you might have.

General likes: age differences, AUs, apocalypses, crossovers, fake relationships, forced proximity, found families, hurt/comfort, isolated/trapped, mind-meld, reincarnation, road trips, secret identities, time travel

General dislikes: alpha/beta/omega, abuse, bestiality, dub-con/non-con, genderswap, gore, incest, knotting, mpreg, pair the spare, tentacles, vampires/werewolves, voyeurism

My favorite stories focus on the characters and the way their relationships evolve and change, so I read more stories in the PG to R range than NC-17. For me, sex is secondary to character and relationship development. If it's included, that's great, but I prefer sex not be the focus.

I like a balance of angst and humor (if it needs to lean toward one or the other, I prefer angst). I read more romance than gen, but I love gen if it focuses on a character's development or relationships (because non-romantic relationships are important too).

Elementary, Leverage, Life, Pacific Rim, Revenge

These are my more "realistic" fandoms, I guess. (Again, with the exception of Pacific Rim. I hope sea monsters from another reality don't become realistic.) I think any of these could easily be crossed. At the least, some share locations (Elementary is set in New York; Revenge occasionally visits New York); some share themes (righting wrongs: Leverage, Life, Revenge). Obviously, Elementary and Life are both police dramas.

Prompts for a few of the potential crossovers…
  1. Leverage/Revenge: Rather than taking the Graysons down herself, Emily hires the Leverage team. Or maybe after Emily destroys the Graysons, she and Nolan (and maybe Charlotte?) start up their own Leverage-like business; maybe they even team up with the Leverage team once or twice. Alternatively, maybe the Leverage team comes to Emily for help with something. Maybe Emily or Nolan is related to one of the Leverage team — Parker, for example?

  2. Elementary/Life: Just imagine these characters interacting with each other. Charlie and Sherlock would probably was philosophical while trying to out-detective each other; Dani and Joan would roll their eyes and ignore them. Actually, Dani and Joan would probably just be thrilled to meet someone else with a partner as exhausting as the ones they have. Maybe Charlie's case connects to something in New York, or maybe Sherlock and Joan follow Irene to Los Angeles to foil some evil scheme she has going.

  3. Life/Revenge: Charlie and Emily have philosophically different approaches to righting wrongs, but that's still their aim. Maybe the Graysons are somehow connected to what happened to Charlie, so she gets in the way of his investigation, or maybe he comes to the Hamptons as part of his investigation and tries to help Emily. I'd love to see Emily and Charlie interact, as well as Nolan and Dani.

  4. Pacific Rim/any: The entire Leverage team as Jaeger pilots! Or Joan and Sherlock! Or Dani and Charlie — he's talking philosophy and zen, she's threatening to feed him to a Kaiju, but they're an awesome team. Also, Emily and Nolan would make excellent co-pilots.

For these fandoms, my favorite characters and pairings are…
  1. Elementary: Joan Watson, Sherlock Holmes

  2. Leverage: Alec Hardison, Eliot Spencer, Parker, Eliot/Parker, Hardison/Parker/Eliot

  3. Life: Charlie Crews, Dani Reese, Crews/Reese

  4. Pacific Rim: Raleigh Becket, Mako Mori, Raleigh/Mako

  5. Revenge: Emily Thorne, Nolan Ross, Charlotte Grayson, Nolan/Emily, Jack/Charlotte

Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms, Fringe, Greek and Roman Mythology, Harry Potter, The Raven Cycle

Except for Fringe, which is more sci-fi than fantasy, each of these fandoms has elements of the fantastical and/or magical. Still, Fringe could work well with any of the others as cases for Peter and Olivia (or the alt!verse's Fringe team) to investigate. If you decide to cross one of these fandoms with fairy tales, feel free to choose whatever fairy tale you want. I've provided a few favorites for Greek and Roman mythology, but you don't have to use those.

Prompts for a few of the potential crossovers…
  1. Fringe/The Raven Cycle: What if travel between alternate realities is possible because of the ley lines? What if Glendower is from an alternate reality? What if one of the Raven Boys is from an alternative reality? You could explore the characters from The Raven Cycle being thrust into the struggle between realities. Alternatively, the Fringe team could just investigate the boy who can pull things from dreams. (Also, a million points for connecting The Gray Man to the Observers and/or September. A MILLION POINTS.)

  2. Harry Potter/The Raven Cycle: Magic! Private schools with snazzy uniforms! Snarky boys, awesome girls! Psychics! These two book series have so much in common, it'd probably be impossible to not find a way to connect them. Maybe Harry and Ron, as Aurors, are sent to investigate when the ley lines light up. Maybe Glendower is connected to Hogwarts somehow (Glendower Gryffindor, maybe?). I bet Hermione knows a lot about Glendower and ley lines. Or you could just make Blue, the psychics, and the Raven Boys witches and wizards. If you want to futz with the timeline a little, you could cross The Raven Cycle with Marauder-era Hogwarts.

  3. Greek and Roman Mythology/Harry Potter: There's already some connection between the Harry Potter canon and the myths, so really, anything is possible. You don't have to focus on Harry's era or Marauders, but you're welcome to. Maybe the gods and goddess are responsible for the magical abilities that witches and wizards have? If so, which god/goddess contributed which element? Or maybe a story from mythology plays itself out in Harry Potter.

  4. Greek and Roman Mythology/The Raven Cycle: We've already got Arthurian mythology, so why not throw in a little Greek and Roman mythology too? You could connect Morpheus to Ronan and the other dream thieves — maybe he wasn't really a god but the first dream thief; maybe he gave the power to a mortal and it's just been passed down through generations. I'd also love to see a connection between Ariadne or Psyche, mortals pulled into the immortals' world, and Blue, who's just a conduit for others' powers.

  5. Fringe/Greek and Roman Mythology: Maybe something goes awry with the seasons, the Fringe team goes to investigate, and they find Persephone on the outs not only with Hades but also Demeter. Maybe explore mythology and alternate realities — do the gods and goddesses exist across all realities, or are there different versions of their lives across all those realities?
For these fandoms, my favorite characters and pairings are…
  1. Fringe: Astrid Farnsworth, Etta Bishop, Lincoln Lee, Olivia Dunham, September, Lincoln/Olivia, September/any

  2. Greek and Roman Mythology: Ariadne, Dionysus, Hades, Hera, Prometheus, Pandora, Persephone, Psyche

  3. Harry Potter: Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, Ron Weasley, Remus Lupin, Harry/Luna, Neville/Ginny, Ron/Hermione

  4. The Raven Cycle: Blue Sargent, Maura Sargent, Noah Czerny, Richard Gansey III, Ronan Lynch, The Gray Man (Dean Allen), Gansey/Blue, Gansey/Blue/Ronan, Noah/Blue, Gray Man/Maura

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inception, Push, The X-Files, X-Men (Movieverse)

This one is my sci-fi request. Like my first request, I think these are all pretty easy to cross. The X-Files could be crossed with any of these as casefics, of course, and I think Inception is easy to work with for any of them as well. Really, you could pretty much do anything with these, and it'd be awesome.

Prompts for a few of the potential crossovers…
  1. Inception/any: Crossover or fusion, either way. Maybe Coulson's team gets ahold of the tech. For Push, maybe there's a new type of superhuman who can infiltrate dreams (could work with X-Men too). Would make for great casefic with The X-Files…or just any of the characters rescuing each other from the dreamscapes.

  2. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./Push: After recent events, Phil Coulson is more convinced than ever that there are no clairvoyants. Then he meets Cassie Holmes.

  3. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./The X-Files: Maybe Coulson gets creative when recruiting agents for the new S.H.I.E.L.D.; maybe he's known Mulder and Scully for years from some case that overlapped.

  4. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./X-Men (Movieverse): It's tragic we'll never get a proper crossover between the Avengers and the X-Men, but at least in fic we can pretend. Maybe Coulson knows a few of the X-Men closer to his age, like Scott, Jean, and Storm? Or maybe Skye knows Rogue? Maybe instead of the Playground, Coulson and his team go to Xavier's School in the finale.

  5. Push/The X-Files: Mulder and Scully meet a group of the superhumans (can be Cassie and Nick, but it doesn't have to be). Post-series for The X-Files would be excellent, because Mulder and Scully were probably in a sort of limbo after all of that, and it'd give them something to focus on.

  6. The X-Files/X-Men (Movieverse):
  7. Mulder and Scully team up with the X-Men to fight the future, whether it's the Sentinels or an alien invasion. Alternatively, Mulder and Scully as mutants would fascinating.

For these fandoms, my favorite characters and pairings are…
  1. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Jemma Simmons, Melinda May, Skye, Coulson/Skye, Fitz/Simmons

  2. Inception: Ariadne, Dom Cobb, Robert Fischer, Cobb/Ariadne, Fischer/Ariadne

  3. Push: Nick Grant, Cassie Holmes, Nick/Cassie

  4. The X-Files: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Monica Reyes, Mulder/Scully, Doggett/Reyes

  5. X-Men (Movieverse): John Allerdyce, Kitty Pryde, Pietro Maximoff, Rogue, Scott Summers, Scott/Rouge, Bobby/Kitty, John/Rogue

National Treasure, Sanctuary, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1

This one's a little more of a mixed bag. Mostly sci-fi, two shows part of the same franchise, and lots of actor crossover between three of them…Then there's National Treasure, but let's be honest: That franchise is just barely not sci-fi anyway. A few aliens or mythical creatures won't be much of a stretch, right?

Prompts for a few of the potential crossovers…
  1. National Treasure/Sanctuary: In his quests for national (and international) treasures, Ben Gates comes across a few things even more fascinating than historical artifacts. Alternatively, Helen Magnus and Will Zimmerman as treasure hunters would be awesome as well.

  2. National Treasure/Stargate Atlantis:Ben Gates, consultant for the Stargate program (because history? I don't know, your call), hears stories of historically significant artifacts scattered across the Pegasus Galaxy, so he goes hunting.

  3. Sanctuary/Stargate (any): Maybe Helen Magnus meets Samantha Carter, maybe she doesn't. But I could see Magnus coming across a Goa'uld or a Wraith and wanting to study and/or protect it, but then a Stargate team shows up. Or maybe Magnus is recruited to the Stargate program, and there's lots of jokes about her resemblance to Sam, and there's also the possibility that they're distantly related.

  4. Stargate Atlantis/Stargate SG-1: Really, anything where SG-1 and the Atlantis teams work together again would be fantastic. Maybe the Goa'uld hear about the Wraith and decide they'd make great hosts. Maybe there's a new threat out there. I'd love to see Ronon and Vala teamed up and/or paired off. John and Vala would be great too. Maybe there's some type of non-alien apocalypse and the two teams work together, maybe the Atlantis base/Pegasus Galaxy is a place of refuge. (Also, feel free to cross either Stargate with any other fandom we share from any of my requests!)

For these fandoms, my favorite characters and pairings are…
  1. National Treasure: Ben Gates, Abigail Chase, Riley Poole, Ben/Abigail/Riley, Riley/Abigail

  2. Sanctuary: Helen Magnus, Kate Freelander, Nikola Tesla, Will Zimmerman, Henry/Kate, Magnus/Will, Magnus/Tesla

  3. Stargate Atlantis: John Sheppard, Elizabeth Weir, Jennifer Keller, Ronon Dex, Sheppard/Weir, Ronon/Jennifer

  4. Stargate SG-1: Sam Carter, Martouf|Lantash, Vala Mal Doran, Cam/Sam, Daniel/Vala, Martouf|Lantash/Sam

Again, thank you so much, Writer! I hope you have a good time with this exchange!
